Adventure Game

Background

I started developing this game for my portfolio to exhibit my expertise in Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Description

This game is a work in progress. I am building it in Articulate Storyline 360 and using Adobe Creative Cloud for graphics and media. I am producing it iteratively and distributing for testing at each iteration. The current version is not the final version!

This is a mini “point and click” style adventure game and is loosely inspired by The Secret of Monkey Island.

The aim of the game is to rescue Boris the dragon who has been kidnapped. The player explores the environment and collects “inventory” which can be used with other inventory and the environment in different ways.

Current Status 28/08/2018:
28/08/2019 – Iteration #2 – 45 hours of development time
    • Better gameplay on mobile/tablet – fixed direction arrows rather than ones that appear on hover.
    • Objects don’t “stick” to other objects – instead snap back to starting position
    • Some timing issues resolved
    • Removed third hut as a navigation option
    • Tidied up and streamlined some code
23/08/2019 – Iteration #1 – 35 hours of development time.
    • Basic gameplay appears to work from start to finish
    • Placeholder pictures and graphics only
    • Placeholder narration
    • Distributed for testing
To Come:
    • Fix bugs
    • Back story opening scene
    • Tweaks/extensions to gameplay
    • Hide inventory unless backpack clicked on (possibly)
    • Design main character
    • Tidy up interactions and narration
    • Make everything interact with everything else or at least snap back to start
    • Custom pictures + graphics
    • Graphic design
    • Improve navigation for mobile and tablet
    • Animations + videos where needed
    • Anything else that testing feedback reveals

Notes for players:

  • The game *should* remember where you are up to if you have things like cookies and cache enabled on your browser. It might not though. There is no save button 🙂
  • The game currently works on mobile and tablet but it is a bit of a guess with navigation (this will be fixe in the next iterations). I recommend playing on a pc or laptop for the least frustration
  • You can’t irreversibly lose! Keep trying!
  • Please help me out by filling in the feedback under the game 🙂

If you have played my game, please help me make it better with some feedback.
